Love In A Mist

Our crooked gum

This is the beautiful view north from our house. We nearly called the farm 'Crooked Gum' for obvious reasons. It will be a sad day for me when this dead gum tree has gone. A lightening strike took out a few more branches last year and left a huge channel up its trunk. These pics show hay season, a sunset and a backdrop of smoke from the Mt Bold bushfire. Mother nature!

Cloud 9

When I met my husband Damien I didn't know he was capable of being such a practical 'bloke'! He is gorgeous, smart AND a handyman! I didn't know he was capable of tiling (straight), building a verandah (almost straight), paving to perfection and bricking a chimney which had seen better days (amongst many other clever skills).

This simple photo says a few things to me - the beautiful blue sky and cute fluffy clouds remind me how lucky we are to live in Australia and are such a contrast to the rickety old chimney and ugly tiled roof (now gone). And how clever Damien is for not falling off that roof!

Snow White and which dwarf?

Don't they look angelic? This is the result of hours of plaster sanding. Thanks boys!

Pretty in pink

Organised caos - blissful! Pulling down corrugated iron ceilings which held up many inches of powdered paper insulation, which when on the floor, amounted to nearly a foot of grey dust which was carted out of the four rooms, wheelbarrow by wheelbarrow. (Thanks Sam and Chloe)

In the beginning

January 17, 2005. Settlement on 81 acres at beautiful Flaxley. Damien said he would never renovate again and what do you know?... It's a renovator's delight! These photos show aspects of the 'stunning' blank canvas - well maybe not so blank - a bit of work involved to take off the old layer of 'paint' before laying down the new.
Well here begins the journey and the creation of a 'home' and our farm.
